  • Western Community Centre 46 Hyde Ave Hamilton New Zealand (map)

Presented by Slay Way and Rainbow Hub Waikato

Rainbow Hub Waikato strives to support anyone who is dedicated to inclusivity of diversity. Are you wanting to ensure that rainbow communities feel safe to enter your spaces?

This workshop is going to give you the knowledge, tools and resources to do so, Whether you’re a business, individual or community organisation, having an understanding of rainbow competencies including sex, gender diversity, sexual orientation, and the identities that exist within the rainbow community is essential for best practice.

We all cater to different communities, however embracing intersectionality helps us to ensure that all people feel welcome in all spaces. Rainbow Hub Waikato wants to be able to recommend allies and rainbow friendly services to our own community.

Have you ever thought about your rainbow cultural accessibility? Do you have a team that is comfortable and confident to work with our diverse community? Does your organisation represent a safe and inclusive space? Are you a safe and inclusive community practice?

In this workshop we will cover:

  • Gender & Sexual Diversity - Exploring identity, attraction, sex, expression & pronouns.

  • Indigenous queer culture - The history of takatāpuitanga, & inclusive reindigenisation.

  • Authentic allyship - Removing barriers to service access for the rainbow community.

  • Creating safe & inclusive spaces - Actionable steps to support staff and service users.

  • Pātai & kōrero kete - a safe place for you to ask questions without fear of judgement.
