Tokaanu Thompson

Kaiwhakarite

tokaanu@communitywaikato.org.nz

Tokaanu is the newest Kaiwhakarite at Community Waikato. Beyond the office, you'll often find him pursuing his passion for an active lifestyle—whether it's lifting weights, playing rugby, touch, or basketball. He takes joy in cheering on his kids at their sports events, always holding onto the belief that he is still young and nimble!

Sports have played a significant role in Tokaanu’s life, shared with his equally sports-loving wife. They both actively participate in various activities, fostering a love for movement that they aim to instill in their community. Tokaanu proudly chairs his youngest child’s kohanga, investing in the cultural and educational development of his own children and the youngest members of our hāpori. Additionally, he serves as vice-president at his rugby club, a role that allows Tokaanu to contribute to the growth and success of the sport in his area.

With a corporate background under his belt, Tokaanu has shifted gears into the for-purpose sector, a transition that excites him immensely. He is particularly passionate about working alongside iwi Māori, combining his skills and experiences to make a positive impact.
