This workshop provides a general overview of the role of governance and an understanding of what you need to know to become an effective board or committee member.

Topics will include:

• Understanding the legal structure of your organisation including the implications of the new Incorporated Societies Act

• What are the key roles and responsibilities of governance

• Discussing the four functions of governance; i.e. Strategic leadership, Stewardship, Stakeholder relationships, Self-maintenance

• Differences between board responsibilities and operations and the relationships between them
