Build confidence through Toastmasters

As people realise that they have something worthwhile to say and can express it confidently, they gain more spring in their step and zest for life. Toastmasters is an organisation that can provide people with the encouragement and enthusiasm they need to feel confident that they can stand up and talk, and make a difference.

Wordplay on Saturday Toastmasters Club meets every Saturday in Hamilton. Participants gain confidence as they develop better speaking, listening and thinking skills. The mission of Toastmasters International is to provide a positive and mutually supportive learning environment which encourages confidence and the enhancement of communication and leadership skills.

Peter Elliott is the Inaugural Club President of Wordplay on Saturday Toastmasters Club. He says membership is open for all people aged 18 years and over.

“Our club is meeting the needs of a wide variety of people, including those that need more social interaction, and those motivated to increase their career potential. This particular toastmasters has a magnetic appeal for immigrants who have English as a second or third other language.”

“Every Saturday is a feast of fun and fellowship in a most encouraging and positive learning environment. But definitely not a class room setting,” says Peter.

Wordplay on Saturday Toastmasters Club is affiliated with Toastmasters International, which was established in 1925, and now has over 300,000 members in 140 countries. Women were first admitted as full members in 1973.

Wordplay on Saturday Toastmasters Club meets every Saturday morning from 9am to 10:30am, on Level 2 at Hamilton Central Library, Garden Place Hamilton.
