Fixed Term Community Advisor

Community Waikato is a values-based community organisation that supports, strengthens and advocates for community-based frontline social service, health, disability, community development, education and environment organisations’ in the Waikato region. Community Waikato is seeking a fixed-term, Community Advisor who is an exceptional facilitator and communicator, who is strategic, and solutions orientated, and is competent in providing excellent service under pressure. You should be a community development practitioner, adult educator and strategic thinker able to develop good working relationships and work in participative and facilitative ways with community organisations' to provide:

  • One-to-one support and advice on a wide range of organisational issues

  • Facilitation of training, planning, workshops and meetings

  • Coordination, networking, support with collaboration, organisational & project development.

You will need an appropriate tertiary qualification or equivalent experience, skills, knowledge and experience in the following areas: 

  • Community development, social justice, strategic thinking, mentoring

  • Legal structures, financial systems, governance, management, planning, funding and organisational development in the community sector

  • Evaluation and analysis

  • Social service provision and community networks

  • Working within the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi.

This is a fixed contract for one year commencing in January 2021.  This is a full-time role with flexible hours due to evening & weekend work.  The role is based in Hamilton with travel required around the region.
